What to expect on your first visit.

How old should you be for an initial orthodontic consult?
While there is no exact age for children to begin orthodontic treatment, the American Association of Orthodontists recommend visiting the orthodontist around age 7. By this age, most children have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth, making it easier for the orthodontist to diagnose and correct tooth and jaw problems sooner and without surgery. But, we often see first time patients who are pre-teen, teenager, and adults!

Before your visit
Before your first visit, we recommend bringing in a completed Health History form, as well as any insurance you may have. During your consultation, our financial coordinator will review your insurance coverage with you.

Fill out the appropriate form at the bottom of the page, and bring it to our office at your first appointment.

At your first appointment
Your first visit to our clinic will be a chance to meet Dr. Cermin, tour our treatment area, and a complimentary initial exam. Our friendly staff will greet you, and give you the time and attention you deserve as you undergo an examination and discussion of all treatment options. Discussing your treatment options will look at your diagnosis, estimated treatment times, and cost of treatment. We understand that each orthodontic treatment plan is different, and strive to deliver the best care to you and your family. At your initial visit, a treatment start date will be determined based on cost and patient’s tooth development.
It is important to note that treatment may not start on the day of the initial exam.

Remember!

Orthodontics is about more than just straightening teeth. Orthodontics understand the complexity of growth development and facial form. Treatment plans include issues related to the jaw and bite, not just the movement of teeth.
